Time With Daddy

Yesterday my MIL who normally watches the girls on Tuesday's was sick. So between the hubby and I he still gets paid if he calls in sick. I on the other hand do not. Sooo... daddy day care it is. Not that this is something new for my girls, time alone with dear old dad, he usually is home from work before me and they have their special father/daughter bonding.
When I got home last night I was excited as ever to squeeze, hug, kiss and fawn all over the girls. But to my dismay they wanted nothing to do with mommy. I was crushed. Daddy got to hold both girls while I sat there and watched. Nothing I did changed their minds. Granted this behavior does happen every so often because daddy is the 'fun' parent. He tosses them high in the air and runs around with them on his shoulders while I sit holding my breath. They scream "more, more" over and over till he can barely lift his arms he is so tired. I love that they share this rough an tumble activity. Lord knows I am not tossing them 10 feet in the air and swinging them over my back catching them just before they hit the ground. Mommy's just don't do this. But my girls LOVE it. I guess a day full of this activity rocketed dad to the top of the favorite parent charts.

It's a day like this that makes me want to be a stay at home mom. Most days they rush into my arms with the sweet sounds of "Mommy!" filling the air. I'm sure the girls have done this exact thing to my sweet hubby but I don't remember it because it wasn't my feelings that were crushed, laying on the floor covered in cheerios.

My hubby is the fun one too. They often prefer him over me but to be honest, it melts me to see them love him so much. I am sure that being home with them 24/7 makes that a little less upsetting. I am all there is most of the time so I am always relieved when they are clamoring for someone else!

my girls go through phases like this too, where daddy can do no wrong! i usually really love it, but i agree, i like being the center of their universe! i guess we just need to learn to share. poo.

I'mwith Shannin...there are times when I WISH my kids were more into their Dad...but I am secretly pleased they are so attached to me. I guess it's not such a secret anymore?

No credit for Mommy in the 'fun' category.. can't we get credit for being the 'house cleaning' one, the 'food providing' one, the 'clothes dressing' one, the 'book reading one' .. but no.. the 'fun' one gets all the credit :)

Thanks ladies. I agree with you all on how awesome it is to see them love their daddy so much. I usually sit back and smile. I just wished that after a long day of no mommy they were a little more excited to see me. It really was just one day. I think I've been emotional lately thinking about their birthday coming up and knowing this time 2 years ago I was sitting in the hospital.

So true Lindsey. When I am home all day with them like today. I am doing laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping. Daddy really just got to play ALL day :) We can wear dirty clothes every so often LOL!

My girls are home with daddy most days and yet he somehow still manages to be the fun one. Guess it is because so much of my time is spent feeding, changing, etc and he gets more of the free play time. Guess no matter what Mamas never get to be the fun ones

Oh, the time with daddy is precious! It's nice that you both get to spend your time with the girls and create your own special activities with them.

Love Daddy Daughter pics!! The bond is very special between Daddy's and Daughters.
I had to say though that I am the one the does the tossing in the air in this house. DH is such a worry wart, it scares him to death!! LOL! But he's the one the rolls around on the floor with them.

I have a friend who always tells me to remember that someday when some TV camera is in front of their face they will shout "I love you MOM!".

My boys are mama's boys so far. I am sure the day will come when fishing with dad is more fun than shopping with mom. I will be crushed. Therapy here I come!
