Wordful Wednesday

We have put off potty training for a while now even though Addison has shown quite a few tells that she is ready.
There are a few reasons I haven't been excited about diaperless babies...I know some of you are shaking your head in disbelief :)
Selfishly I feel that once they are in big girl panties they will not be my babies anymore...sob sob.
And I am also not really looking forward to 20 bathroom visits on my quick in & out trips to the grocery store.
As much as I would like to save the obscene amount of money we spend on diapers times two every month I am not really in any hurry.
This may drop me down yet again in the super mommy scale but whatever.
I think I bumped up a few notches when I took the girls out after a 10 hour work day just to buy a lolli pop just because.

Either way we have introduced big girl panties into the equation. For some reason they have not grasped the concept of under garments.
We will work on that next week.
Enjoy!

We love our new Tinker Bell panties. Thanks Grandma.

  1. Hilarious!! My little one (29 months has pretty much potty trained herself) literally, I put a diaper on her just for the sake of dry clothes and she has been dry - DRY for over 2 weeks now. She refuses to wet in the diaper at all. She has been dry at night for months! She was soooooo easy!

  4. I love the story about pottying. I am selfishly holding off too... You are not alone sista. I only have one, he is very head strong and only wants to do it sometimes, you know- when it is right for him... LOL! Good luck, I will cross my fingers for yoU!

  6. oh! I just found you from Octamom! I have Twinkies too (b/g)... I'm STRUGGLING with potty training, and they are showing NO SIGNS of readiness!!! UGH!

  7. I understand completely! I was in no hurry to potty train my girls. It was a big milestone that I wasn't ready to cross, and I just thought it was going to be a HUGE pain to potty train twins. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't nearly as bad as I thought, and I've been surprised at how few potty stops we have to make while we are out. You'll get through it, and soon you'll wonder how you ever changed so many diapers in a day! Good luck!

  8. How cute. My 26 month old daughter is in the process also. She had been wearing panties to daycare all week, but she does have a few accidents. I wasn't in a hurry to potty train her either, for the reasons you mentioned, except that I can't put her in the preschool that I like until she's fully trained. I miss the diapers though. So convenient...

  10. Soooo cute!!!! I have mixed feelings about potty training...like you I do not look forward to the accidents and the having to stop at every single potty in the state..

  11. This is so funny! I love how proud they are of their big girl panties! I guess that getting them on, regardless of order, would be the first step!

    Blessings!

  12. I am guessing that your girls are about the same age as my twins and we are in the same boat. UGH!
ps I feel the exact same way!

    Happy WW!

  13. So adorable. Plus, even when they are fully out of diapers you still have to wipe their butts. Times two. :)

  14. I don't blame you....you have to be ready to do it. It was much easier than I thought it would be though!! We still travel with a potty in the back of the Tahoe just in case, but surprisingly, my girls can hold it for a long time!

  15. Oh that is hilarious! I love the pic of the girls reading on the potty, too....mine does that all the time - and she even moves her potty into her room! LOL.

  17. so cute. oh, you have plenty of time. and i really do believe, the longer you wait, the less accidents they have. my youngest was well over 3 (i know... it was weird and i did almost start to worry) when he finally was out of diapers, and i tell you, that kid had 0 accidents. not one... even during the night.

  19. LOVE IT! Reminds me of my sis who is 20 years younger than me. When she was 3, she put on all of my underwear... at the same time. It made for a great, if embarrassing for me, pic! Love this!

    Happy WW!

P.S. The word verification word is "excon." Is it trying to say something to me? LOL!

  21. Great picture! Even when my girls were potty trained at home I would put a diaper on them when we went out becuase I didn't want to deal with public toilets. :)

  22. I don't blame you one bit! I found myself thinking that a few days ago..although the boys are still far from potty training. Their little booties just don't look the same in panties!

  23. You know what? I felt the same way. My youngest wasn't trained until well after 4 and she is doing just fine now:-)

  24. They are too cute!! I haven't pushed the potty training thing at all with my girls either. They are starting to want to try now...guess I need to motivate myself...

  25. I love their fashion statement! Too funny. You'll still be super mommy even when they are potty trained. Trust me it's a wonderful feeling not to worry about changing and buying diapers anymore!!

  26. My oldest two were both dangerously close to four (Isaac closer than Gracie, but still...)when they potty trained. I say go at your own pace.

And the pics of your girls? PRICELESS. My gosh they are adorable!!

  27. Oh so cute. I am totally not going to push my twins into potty training. They will be next August, so we have a little bit. I am going to have Michael take a week off work and potty train the boys. He gets 5 wks of vacation a yr and he is an EXCELLENT potty trainer. I always forget to take them frequently. Plus, like you, I hate the trips out of the house with all the potty trips.

  28. I understand where you're coming from. Its hard to see them grow up!

  29. Aww those are such cute pictures. They will just love them when they are teens. ;) haha

And yes I agree that there is definitely a big of bittersweetness with potty training. Although I use cloth so I don't have the cost influencing me. I hope and pray my son is as easy as my daughter was once we decided we were going to do this.

  30. Looks like another picture those girls will hate when they're in high school!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was the same...don't push it. It is a big pain if they are not ready. When they are, it will be a snap.

I think they look incredible with under garments as over garments. We have already established the fact that they are trend setters after all.
